Attached to the hospital is Weskota Manor Avera, a 40-resident nursing facility that provides nursing care to elderly and disabled residents who are unable to live independently. Also attached to the hospital are 30 congregate housing apartments.
Although the healthcare entities are physically connected on the campus, all are separate organizations with separate boards. We have a long tradition of working together by sharing resources and expertise, while avoiding duplication of services. Other organizations located on the campus include Jerauld County Community Health Nursing (South Dakota Department of Health, Jerauld County Office of Family and Community Health Services), and Jerauld County Ambulance Association. Organized through cooperation of the hospital, nursing home and community health center, the Weskota Foundation focuses on assisting in the preservation of healthcare services in the Wessington Springs area. The Wessington Springs Healthcare Team provides healthcare outreach through screenings, educational presentations and special events.
