**Postponed until a later date** Community/School Sessions on Human trafficking, Online Safety, Workplace Safety & Domestic Violence

Due to Covid-19 restrictions this even has been postponed until a later date

On March 23 we will be having special presentations to students in grades 6th through 12th and the community/business community. The Wessington Springs Area Development Corporation in coordination with the Domestic Violence Center in Mitchell has Megan Assman, Call to Freedom, and Toby Russell, SD DCI,   coming for these presentations.    They will be doing a community presentation the morning of March 23 at 10 am at the Springs Inn Cafe. Megan Assman will cover Human/Sex trafficking and Coleen Smith from the Domestic Violence center in Mitchell will cover domestic violence and how it affects workplace safety.     At 1:00 pm they will be doing a presentation for all 6th-8th grades students at the MS/HS building and then presenting at 2:00 pm to the High School Students.

Toby’s presentation covers several topics including posting inappropriate content, sharing too much personal information online, sexting, solicitation of a minor, sextortion and cyber bullying.  Megan’s presentation talks about human trafficking and how traffickers groom and recruit youth through social media and what human trafficking looks like in South Dakota.

These are tough topics, but they are topics that exist even in rural South Dakota. It is important that we educate our youth and give them the tools they need to not be scared in today’s society, but to have the know-how to protect themselves when/if they are ever affected by this. Parents are welcome to attend with their kids.
